50% off sale

Something not everyone online knows about me is that I work in animal rescue in my spare time.  What that means is that I have a tendency to run into stray animals in need, bring them into the house, and care for them through whatever illnesses they have, before looking for an adoptive home.  Most of the time this process comes with a hefty price tag.

This go around, a stray cat ambled up to my driveway.  At first I thought she was one of the homed kitties in our area that wander during the day but go home at night (or vice versa).  Over the next week weeks though, I noticed she was getting dirtier and dirtier, and larger and larger.  It dawned on me that she was both homeless AND pregnant.

She started living in my driveway, sheltering under the cars and huddling against the door for shelter when it rained.  She never went further than one driveway over.  Finally, when I was sure she was going to have her kittens any day, I brought her inside to give birth.

The kittens were adorable, but one of them immediately got sick.  TWICE.  Over the course of his short life so far, he's been to the vet three times for emergency care, and hospitalized once for a week's stay.  Between that, their food, litter, and regular vet care (such as vaccinations and deworming, spaying and more vaccinations), their bill has run me close to $2500.

This weekend I found a box filled with pre-packaged stationery sets from last year's Toronto Scriptus pen show.  Instead of keeping them for this year, I'm selling them at 50% off and using all the proceeds to cover as much of the medical bills for Karamel and her two male kittens Butterscotch and Ripple.

It's $6.25 for each set of 16 sheets + 2 unlabeled envelopes.  Head on over and help me cover my outstanding vet bills so I can continue to take in the animals around my area that need help.  :)
